Week 34....

Wow... I can not believe we only have a little over a month until Greylin arrives. We are so excited to meet him and start our new family. Greylin is constantly moving and stretching these days. He is just like a man....when he gets hungry, he gets really active and grouchy....and when his tummy is full, he is happy and he sleeps!! :) I know what to do now to keep him happy when he gets here.... feed him....
Also, I am doing pretty well thus far. I have hip issues, but it has been better this week after some TLC and physical therapy. The diabetes is going well too. I am still on the special diabetic diet. Which fortunately, has been enough to keep my blood sugars normal without medication. We are doing weekly monitoring to make sure my diabetes is not negatively affecting Greylin and we have another ultrasound next week to assess his growth. One of the main complications with gestaional diabetes is a large baby, which can lead to birth injuries for me and/or for Greylin. However, for at least the past 6 weeks Greylin has been breech. He still has a few weeks to turn, but the bigger he gets the less likely he will change positions. If he does not turn I will have to have a cesarean section. We have tenatively planned the surgery for December 19th if he has not come (or turned) by then. The good news is that as soon as Greylin gets here my diabetes will be cured! The first thing I am going to do, is order Papa John's. :) I have CRAVED pizza the whole pregnancy and am not allowed to have it on my diabetic diet. So I am not only counting down the days for Greylin to get here, but also can not wait until I can have a whole thin crust pineapple pizza to myself!! :) mmmmm.....pizza........

Greylin's Shower

Our baby shower was last Saturday... FUN!! We received so many thoughtful gifts and we were able to spend time with many of our family and friends. We had so many gracious hostess' which made everything look so beautiful!! For those of you who could not make it, I am sorry....you were definitely missed!! We can not wait for you all to meet little Greylin.... Here are a few pictures.. The pictures of the table show the letters and accessories that Liz Ellis had hand painted for Greylin's room. They turned out better than I could have hoped for!! Thanks Liz.....

30 weeks....

Overall, things are going pretty good so far. I am definitely getting bigger and so is Greylin. We had an ultrasound yesterday and everything looks great. Greylin is 3lbs, 3oz now!! The only mishap so far.... I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes last week. What does this mean?? Well, in pregnancy hormones can cause your body to develop diabetes. The good news is that as soon as the pregnancy is over, it will be cured. My chances of developing diabetes later in life significantly increases now that I have developed it during pregnancy, but nothing is guaranteed as long as I continue to live a healthy life style. My screening test for diabetes was very elevated and I was supposed to be put on insulin injections 3 times a day, but for now my special diabetic diet has been enough to conrol my blood sugars. So pray for me that I will continue to be able to continue without insulin. What does this mean for Greylin?? Well...if it is under control, the greatest risk is a big baby. However, more severe types of diabetes can cause birth defects and still borns. So, they will be monitoring Greylin and I closely. But....no worries......so far so good.

Another Milestone...

Another milestone behind us.....first of all on Saturday night on the way to Target I felt Greylin kick me for the first time. We were stopped at a stop light and it felt like someone flicked me in the stomach!! Haha.... It was such a weird feeling. I couldnt stop smiling after that. The past few days I feel him randomly but not alot yet, but I am sure it is coming. Patrick keeps asking me what it feels like, and the only way to describe it, is like everyone says, a flutter (like a gas bubble) or like when someone flicks you in the tummy. It is really a strange sensation.

Also, we had our 19 week ultrasound yesterday and everything looks great! Greylin weighs about 9oz now and is moving like crazy. In fact he was moving too much and the ultrasound tech had a problem measuring him. At this point, I started thinking about which of our personalities to blame his behavior on....but then I realized Patrick and I are both difficult and that we are in TROUBLE either way!! :) I told the ultrasound tech that Greylin already has a nickname for this type of behavior...Gremlin!! :) He was definitely being a cute Gremlin though! It is crazy how fast they grow at this point! He was a tadpole just a few weeks ago and now he looks so sweet!

Thoughts from Daddy...

So, after this weekend with all of our friends and family around, I have to say that I am really excited about the baby coming. For all that don't know yet, we have decided on a name for our little boy. And the name is....Greylin Corbit Finch. I can't wait for baby Grey to come. After spending time with Criag and Holly's little girl, Colbie, it is really starting to hit me, that I am really ready to be a dad. Just watching them interact with her and allowing us to be apart of the whole experience has been just awesome. The way she looks at them when they hold her, talk to her, and just love on her makes me very anxious to see how Grey will look at us. Talking with everyone about Grey has brought more excitement that being a dad will be one of the best things in the world. At first, I was a little nervous about being a dad, and which I still kinda am, but the feeling is changing. A good change. Being able to watch the ultra sound and watching him move and grow the last 18 weeks has been some experience. This morning, Krystal brought home some more pics of Grey, which she took at work. One of the pics is Grey sucking his thumb. It makes me want him to be here so bad! When I hold Colbie, it feels so natural. It makes me wanna be able to hold my little boy now! Anyways, I just thought I would throw some feelings around this Sunday as I think about our family growing. I love you Krystal and Baby Grey.

P.S. Here is the pic of Grey sucking his thumb!

It is a BOY!! :)

Today was our 15 week doctors appointment and things are going great. We heard the babies heartbeat...160 beats per min. Then we had Dr. Schroeder do an ultrasound to try to determine the sex. We were so anxious to know... And we are having a boy!! Patrick is so excited, he could hardly walk straight out of the office to the car! We are just excited that everything is going well. The pregnancy seems more real now that we can imagine a little boy to love on!! :) I can't wait to feel HIM move! Yay ...it is a "him" not an "it" anymore.
